This week I've got much on this week as it's just right before Lunar New Year holiday, which is one of the biggest holidays in Korea.
The phones in the office were ringing off the hook all day long.
The holiday begins tomorrow until next Monday, which is 4 days including the weekend.
Originally the holiday is 3 days long but the new substitute holiday was implemented in 2014 that is the next working day of a holiday falling on Saturday or Sunday.
However it's not for all overlapping holidays but only applied to Lunar New Year Holidays, Korean Thanksgiving Day and Children's Day
I've got much on this week :
off the hook : If your telephone is ringing off the hook, a lot of people are calling you
all day long : during all of the day
Substitute holiday :
Today many companies allow their employees to leave office earlier than usual so that they can leave for their hometown for a family reunion.
Our company also encourages employees to leave early every year.
However I had to stay in the office as I still had a lot on my plate today
It was a pretty hectic day today.
We have Staff canteen in the company, which is a kind of gathering place and informal meet-ups in the comfortable environment so we can take some time out there, shoot the breeze and refresh my focus.
Today, I was on coffee number 5 in Canteen because I was a bit nervous about ramification of what I was handling today.
A family reunion :
Have something on my plate : to have something, usually a large of amount of important work to deal with (할일이 너무 많아요)
hectic : A hectic situation is one that is very busy and involves a lot of rushed activities (정신없이 바쁜)
Shoot the breeze : to spend time talkinga about things that are not important (수다를 떨다.
